Movement and Music
Introduction and Importance
Early childhood education significantly incorporates movement and music because it enables the children to be able to express their creativity and imaginativeness. This assists them to express themselves and what they can achieve in term of body, and expression of feelings. They are learning along with the utilization of social skills. Children learn to know about their talent and coordinate and learn how to express themselves through movement and music to develop motor skills and be informed of their talent. This kind of labor contributes to the general progress and provides physical, emotional and intellectual development of child. (Kaiser, 2020)
Creativity Theories and Perspectives
White voice, singing, dancing, and movement also exercises the children and enhances their creativity and communication skills. Sociocultural Theory developed by Lev Vygotsky suggests that cognitive and creative development of the child happens as a result of the social interaction. He holds that instruments such as music and movement form part of the children in enabling them to interact with the world around them, their social skills and how to learn through other people. Besides allowing children to express their creativity through dancing and making music as a group, the given group activities allow children to develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The other theory which has gained prominence is the Reggio Emilia Approach according to which children are considered as artists of their learning. Within this context, creativity is interpreted as an extension of natural child expression and movement and music are an effective means of inquiry). By using this method, it is possible to make children express their ideas by means of different kinds of artistic expression in order to develop their imagination and creative thinking abilities and collaboration skills. Overall, these theories show the role of music and movement in the development of creativity and the cognitive process.(Wu & Zhang, 2025)

Critical Reflection and Evaluation
Considering my creativity strengths, I will say I believe in openness, flexibility, and enthusiasm and that what will assist me in teaching creativity with the use of movement and music. I enjoy coming up with new things and therefore I am able to come up with interesting games of children. This will be achieved through the provision of a conducive and encouraging environment that will encourage kids to express themselves, and bring out their creativity. It is also my interest in music and movement that drives me to continue searching new possibilities of introducing these two activities to the classroom. This not only enhances my own teaching skills, but also enables children to feel confident and this makes them very creative. I desire to motivate them to continue to discover and develop their individual abilities and develop an everlasting affection towards music and movement.(Krieg et al., 2023)
